Description

The PLA fil­a­ment with metal­lic par­ti­cles is suit­able for all 3D print­ers. Alu­mini­um mate­r­i­al for 3D print­ing has a tex­ture that pro­vides an alu­minum sur­face with­out any rework­ing. Only 100% pure PLA pel­lets are in use to make this fil­a­ment. The dyes are spe­cial­ly select­ed for the metal­lic col­ors to retain their prop­er­ties after print­ing. As it is a com­mer­cial­ly avail­able PLA fil­a­ment, the metal­lic mate­r­i­al can be used on all FDM print­ers with 1.75mm noz­zle.

PLA is a ther­mo­plas­tic fil­a­ment of plant ori­gin made from a maize starch-derived poly­mer. It has sim­i­lar prop­er­ties to poly­eth­yl­ene tereph­tha­late (PET) used to make con­tain­ers and is also biodegrad­able. PLA is a sim­ple mate­r­i­al and suit­able for begin­ners, as it adheres bet­ter than ABS and works with­out hav­ing a heat­ed print­ing plat­form. Nev­er­the­less, the man­u­fac­tur­er rec­om­mends the use of a heat­ed bed at 60° for opti­mum results. For a per­fect sur­face, it is rec­om­mend­ed to use a fan when print­ing with PLA, but don’t wor­ry it works with­out both.

Due to its ori­gin, it is envi­ron­men­tal­ly friend­ly and gives a pleas­ant sweet aro­ma when print­ed with. PLA is a hygro­scop­ic mate­r­i­al that tends to absorb mois­ture. For this rea­son, we rec­om­mend to store it in an air­tight bag in a dry and dark place when not in use.

Critical consideration of the metallic effect

It is true that the mate­r­i­al has a metal­lic-look­ing sur­face before and espe­cial­ly after the print­ing process. Yet you do not need to hope that it feels like met­al which is impos­si­ble at the cur­rent state of tech­nol­o­gy for pri­vate 3D prit­ners. It con­tin­ues to be plas­tic with a dif­fer­ent look than con­ven­tion­al PLA fil­a­ment.

Despite the small final crit­i­cism, metal­lic materials/filmanet are a wel­come change for home users. With it print­ed spare parts opti­cal­ly fit bet­ter to the orig­i­nal and own cre­ations and give greater authen­tic­i­ty.
